Welcome to St. Francis Xavier Parish

Reopening of our Parish

The good news is, we can begin the move to reopen our church for public Masses. However, this will take some time. As the Archbishop said in his message, strict guidelines are in place in all parishes throughout Alberta. They are intended to ensure and balance the worthy and reverent celebration of the Eucharist and the safety of everyone. This means alignment with Alberta Health Guidelines.

To meet the safety requirements for Stage One, a number of volunteers are needed. Thankfully, we have a parishioner who has agreed to take on the role of Safety Coordinator. Other volunteers are required for registration & greeting, ushering and cleaning. Those folks need to be individuals who are willing to be trained and will follow directions. As per the Archbishop’s recommendation regarding Mass participation, they should be younger rather than older and in good health. You may already be serving as a volunteer in a church ministry; consider supporting our church in this way. Please contact the parish office if you can help out in this way.

We will all need to work together so that our community can return to the public celebration of Mass.

Spiritual Communion Prayer by St. Alphonsus Liguori:

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Jesus, I trust in You!

RE: Letter from Archbishop Smith

Dear Parishioners,

Please know that I will be celebrating daily Mass in private for all of your families and for the whole world. Your Mass intentions are still being offered daily. Please call the parish at 780-672-1131 if you are in need of help. Those who have the means to do so, please continue to support our parish financially. I keep you all in my prayers. Let us strengthen each other in prayers. All those who are able to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Divine Mercy Novena, please do it. Thank you.

– Fr. Joby Augustin, CFIC
